Birnin Kebbi — The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has expressed readiness to welcome defectors from rival parties but firmly stated that its leadership structure will remain untouched.

State Chairman of the party, Engr. Bala Sufiyanu, made this declaration on Sunday during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi, as the party anticipates an influx of new members from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“We are glad to welcome new members who believe in the ADC’s vision and are ready to work for a better Kebbi State,” Sufiyanu said.

However, he emphasized that no defector—regardless of influence or political stature—would be allowed to displace existing party leaders.

“Our leadership positions are not up for grabs. The party’s structure remains intact,” he asserted. “There is no formal or informal agreement requiring current officials to step aside for incoming members.”

Sufiyanu, who described himself as the “legally recognized and constitutionally elected State Chairman,” warned against any expectations of a leadership reshuffle to accommodate external interests.

He noted that the ADC is gaining traction in Kebbi ahead of the 2027 general elections, with growing support from individuals and interest groups across various sectors.

“Our doors remain open to all well-meaning citizens who wish to join us in building a new political direction for Kebbi State,” he said. “But unity and discipline are non-negotiable. Leadership must be earned through the party’s democratic processes—not political shortcuts.”

The ADC, he concluded, is already engaged in strategic planning and grassroots mobilization with the goal of contesting and winning all key elective positions in 2027.
