Leke Abejide, a member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Yagba East, West, and Mopamuro Federal Constituency in Kogi State, has urged his supporters to refrain from dragging his colleague, James Faleke, into speculative political discussions ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja, Abejide responded to claims linking Faleke to ongoing political discourse surrounding the upcoming election in Yagba Federal Constituency. The lawmaker dismissed these rumors as unfounded, reaffirming his commitment to governance and the well-being of his constituents.
“I am confident that Hon. Faleke did not authorize anyone to make those statements attributed to him. They are using his name for personal gain,” Abejide stated. He called on all political actors to avoid actions that could threaten the unity and progress of the region.
Abejide, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Customs, further expressed his admiration for Faleke, emphasizing that his colleague would not support such divisive actions. He highlighted the importance of integrity in political dialogue and warned against distractions that could hinder development efforts in the region.
“I implore all involved to keep Hon. Abiodun Faleke out of the unhealthy political games that some have started in December 2024, especially when the election is still three years away,” he added.
The lawmaker also took aim at “political jobbers” he believes are attempting to shift focus from governance to premature politicking. Abejide reiterated his dedication to his second-term duties, including executing his constituency’s first budget, while prioritizing efforts to alleviate the hardships faced by his people.
“My focus remains solely on governance, with a commitment to improving the lives of our people,” Abejide concluded.
