2027: Labour Party Vows to Oust APC, Says Nigerians Are Hungry for Change

The Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Ogun State, Apagun Olaolu Samuel, has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) should begin preparing to vacate Aso Rock in 2027, as Nigerians are increasingly disillusioned by insecurity, hunger, and the declining economy.

Speaking at a press conference in Abeokuta over the weekend, Olaolu stated that the Labour Party is now Nigeria’s most credible opposition force and is poised to take over leadership in the next general elections.

“Nigerians are already hungry for the Labour Party. With the current state of the economy, insecurity, and widespread hardship, the APC-led federal government has failed the people. The time has come for real change,” he said.

Olaolu emphasized that the Labour Party remains the only opposition party standing, as internal crises have weakened the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He noted that many PDP members are now defecting to the LP due to dissatisfaction with the party’s direction.

“Our doors are wide open. Many PDP members are joining us because they believe in our vision for a better Nigeria. The Labour Party is now unified, strong, and ready to lead,” he added.

Referencing the Supreme Court’s recent recognition of Senator Nenadi Usman’s Caretaker Committee, Olaolu said the judgment marked the end of internal divisions within the LP and a fresh start for the party.

He assured Nigerians that an LP-led government in 2027 would revamp the economy, restore national pride, and offer practical solutions to the country’s growing challenges.

“If we could secure over six million votes in 2023, imagine what we will achieve in 2027. The Labour Party is stronger than ever and fully prepared to contest and win,” he said confidently.

Calling on all members and supporters to unite, Olaolu urged stakeholders to put aside past differences and work collectively for the party’s growth. He reiterated the caretaker committee’s commitment to inclusivity, transparency, and grassroots engagement.

“The Labour Party stands at a defining moment. Together, we can build a stronger, more united movement that truly represents the hopes and aspirations of Nigerians,” he concluded.
