Kaduna State witnessed a major political shift as approximately 10,000 members of the Labour Party (LP) defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Saturday.
Welcoming the new members in Kaduna, ADC State Chairman, Alhaji Tijjani Mustapha, described their defection as a significant milestone in the party’s quest for democratic progress.
“To our 10,000 decampees from the Labour Party, we welcome you with open arms to the ADC family. Your decision to join us is a testament to our shared vision for a better Kaduna State and Nigeria, and we are excited to have you on board,” Mustapha stated.
As part of the event, the ADC formally presented Alexander Adanu as its candidate for the 2025 by-election in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Alexander Igoji Adamu expressed gratitude to the ADC for its inclusivity, emphasizing that their move was driven by a collective aspiration for good governance.
“Our decision to join the ADC is a reflection of our shared desire for a better Nigeria, where transparency, accountability, and good governance reign supreme,” Adamu said.
He further thanked the party for endorsing him as its candidate for the upcoming by-election, pledging to work towards a Nigeria that guarantees quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for all.
