Zamfara Youths Reject Governor Lawal’s Alleged Alignment with Tinubu, Call It Political Opportunism

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Forum in Zamfara State has strongly opposed what it describes as Governor Dauda Lawal’s alleged attempt to align with President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, branding the move as “political opportunism.”

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the forum’s chairman, Musa Adams, accused Governor Lawal, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), of adopting a divisive leadership approach that has allegedly deepened political and social disunity across the state.

Adams further alleged that the governor has been making calculated efforts to cozy up to the APC by inviting its leaders to state events—a gesture the forum dismissed as insincere and politically motivated.

“Zamfara APC remains strong and poised to deliver Asiwaju again in 2027, Insha Allah,” Adams declared.

He also criticized Lawal for allegedly abandoning rural communities grappling with insecurity and widespread poverty. According to Adams, the governor has shown little regard for key APC stakeholders, especially since the appointment of former governor Bello Matawalle as the Minister of State for Defence.

“We do not support Dauda Lawal’s involvement with the APC or President Tinubu’s campaign,” he added.

Daily Post reports that the APC maintains significant political control in Zamfara, holding two of the state’s three Senate seats and five out of seven House of Representatives positions.

While calling for urgent federal intervention to address Zamfara’s lingering security and developmental challenges, the APC Youth Forum insisted that Governor Lawal’s support is neither needed nor welcome for the party’s success.
