Zamfara PDP Denies Governor Lawal’s Defection Rumours, Reaffirms Party Loyalty

The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed circulating reports claiming that Governor Dauda Lawal has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the rumours as baseless and politically motivated.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the State PDP Chairman, Jamilu Jibo Magayaki, firmly denied the defection claims, insisting that the governor remains a loyal member of the PDP.

“As the chairman of the PDP in Zamfara, I can categorically state that Governor Dauda Lawal has not decamped to the APC,” Magayaki said. “If such a move were to happen, I would be among the first to know.”

He described the rumours as a deliberate attempt by political opponents to derail the administration’s ongoing “Rescue Mission” and distract the government from its development agenda.

“These distractions are being peddled by those who feel threatened by the progress and successes of our administration. We remain focused and united in delivering good governance to the people of Zamfara State,” he added.

The PDP leadership in the state reiterated its full support for Governor Lawal and urged the public to disregard any claims suggesting otherwise.
