Zamfara Assembly to Redraft Bills After Governor’s Input

0

The Zamfara State House of Assembly has agreed to redraft several previously approved bills following observations raised by Governor Dauda Lawal.

The Governor, in a message to the Assembly, highlighted sections of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended) that necessitated adjustments to the bills before his assent. Presenting the message, Speaker Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki emphasized the Governor’s commitment to ensuring the laws align with constitutional provisions.

The affected bills cover areas such as education, security, and local government funding. The Governor expressed gratitude to the Assembly and the people of Zamfara for their continued cooperation with his administration.

The House has tasked its standing committees with reviewing the bills and will reconvene on March 3, 2025, to deliberate on the proposed changes.
