Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced plans to hold discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday regarding Trump’s recent conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Speaking at a press conference in Helsinki alongside Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of understanding the details of Trump’s exchange with Putin.
“Today, I will have contact with President Trump,” Zelenskyy stated. “We will discuss the details of the next steps with him.”
The Ukrainian leader also dismissed Putin’s claim that Russia would halt strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, calling it “very much at odds with reality” following a fresh wave of drone attacks across the country.
Addressing potential negotiations, Zelenskyy reaffirmed Ukraine’s firm stance against making territorial concessions to Russia.
“For us, the red line is the recognition of the Ukrainian temporarily occupied territories as Russian,” he declared. “We will not go for it.”
As geopolitical tensions remain high, the outcome of Zelenskyy’s discussions with Trump could play a significant role in shaping future diplomatic efforts between Ukraine, Russia, and the international community.
