Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in Helsinki for an official visit to Finland, where he is set to discuss support for Ukraine and efforts to end Russia’s ongoing war.
The office of Finnish President Alexander Stubb confirmed Zelensky’s arrival in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the two leaders will engage in talks on Finland’s assistance to Ukraine, military cooperation, and defense industry partnerships.
Zelensky’s visit coincides with renewed diplomatic efforts, as former U.S. President Donald Trump initiated a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin to explore the possibility of a ceasefire and a long-term resolution to the three-year conflict.
Key Finnish government officials, including the ministers of finance, defense, and foreign affairs, will participate in discussions at the presidential palace on Wednesday. Additionally, Zelensky is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Parliament Speaker Jussi Halla-aho.
The visit also includes a diplomatic engagement between First Ladies, as Zelensky’s wife, Olena Zelenska, accompanies him. She will visit local schools alongside Suzanne Innes-Stubb, the Finnish First Lady.
This marks Zelensky’s second visit to Finland since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
