Ukraine has reached a major agreement with the United States on a minerals deal, securing more favorable terms after extensive negotiations, according to The Financial Times.
Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Olha Stefanishyna confirmed the development on Tuesday, marking a breakthrough in discussions that had heightened tensions between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.S. President Donald Trump in recent weeks.
Zelenskyy is expected to visit Washington for a formal signing ceremony in the coming days.
Trump, speaking from the Oval Office on Monday after a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, confirmed that the multi-billion-dollar deal would soon be finalized.
