Trump Administration Orders Closure of Federal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Offices

0

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM), under the directive of President Donald Trump, has instructed federal agencies and departments to commence the closure of all Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) offices by the end of Wednesday, as part of a newly issued executive order.

The executive order, signed by President Trump, eliminates DEI programs across the federal government and establishes a policy that recognizes only two genders, male and female, as the official stance of the U.S. government.

According to reports from Fox News, Acting Director of the OPM, Charles Ezell, issued a memo on Tuesday to department heads and acting leaders, outlining the process for implementing the executive order. The memo directs agencies to inform DEI employees that they will be placed on paid administrative leave.

Additionally, the memo instructs department leaders to notify all staff about the closures and encourages employees to report any attempts to conceal DEI programs through vague or coded language.

In compliance with the directive, DEI offices are required to deactivate their public-facing platforms, including websites and social media accounts, and cease all operations.

This move follows President Trump’s broader efforts to reshape federal policy on diversity and inclusion, sparking significant debate over its implications for workplace equity within government agencies.
