The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has issued a stern warning to Russia, vowing to defend its member states against any further aggression in Europe.
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, speaking in Warsaw alongside Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Wednesday, emphasized the alliance’s unwavering commitment to its collective defense obligations.
“If anyone thinks they can get away with an attack on Poland or any other ally, they will be met with the full force of this fierce alliance. Our reaction will be devastating,” Rutte declared.
The warning comes amid growing concerns that Poland could be a potential target following Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine. In response to the heightened security threat, Poland has requested that the United States establish a nuclear weapons base within its borders.
Rutte, a former Prime Minister of the Netherlands, reaffirmed NATO’s stance, stating that the alliance would not allow a repeat of the Ukraine conflict.
“This has to be very clear to Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and anyone else who wants to attack us,” he said.
NATO’s warning underscores rising tensions in Eastern Europe as the military alliance strengthens its defense posture against potential threats from Moscow.
