At least 10 people, including five journalists, have been confirmed dead following Israeli airstrikes on Gaza early Thursday, according to local health authorities. Medics reported that more than a dozen others were wounded in the attacks, and the death toll is expected to rise as several victims remain trapped under the rubble.
In Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood, an Israeli airstrike targeted a house, killing five individuals and injuring 20 others. Emergency teams are working to rescue those still trapped beneath the debris, heightening fears of additional casualties.
In a separate incident, five journalists lost their lives when their vehicle, clearly marked as a media van, was struck in the vicinity of Al-Awda hospital in Nuseirat, central Gaza. The vehicle was reportedly used by journalists to cover events inside the hospital and Nuseirat camp.
Palestinian media outlets and local reporters identified the victims, while the Israeli army confirmed that its air force had intentionally targeted the vehicle. The Israeli military stated that it had struck the van because members of the Islamic Jihad militant group were allegedly inside at the time of the attack.
The continuing violence has intensified concerns about the safety of journalists working in the conflict zone and the rising number of civilian casualties in Gaza.
