The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet have confirmed the death of Abd al-Hadi Sabah, a high-ranking commander in Hamas’s elite Nukhba force, who played a pivotal role in the October 7, 2023, attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz.
Sabah, who led Hamas’s West Khan Younis Battalion, was targeted in a strike in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza, located within an Israeli-designated humanitarian zone. The IDF stated that Sabah was responsible for directing the violent assault on Kibbutz Nir Oz, where dozens of civilians were killed and abducted.
Throughout the ongoing conflict, Sabah was involved in several attacks on IDF personnel in Gaza. The IDF emphasized that precautions were taken to minimize civilian casualties during the operation to neutralize him.
This operation is part of a larger effort by the IDF and Shin Bet to target individuals responsible for the October 7 massacre, one of the deadliest days in Israeli history. Images released by the IDF show Sabah during the assault, underscoring his leadership role in the attack. The military’s operations against Hamas continue as Israel works to dismantle the group’s military infrastructure in Gaza.
