South Korean authorities have imposed a travel ban on Kim E-bae, the Chief Executive Officer of Jeju Air, following a tragic plane crash last week that claimed 179 lives.

The crash occurred in Muan City, South Jeolla Province, and has prompted an intensive investigation. According to local police, the travel restrictions apply to Kim and one other unnamed individual as part of efforts to ensure their availability during the probe.

“The investigative team has imposed a travel ban on two individuals, including Jeju Air CEO Kim E-bae,” confirmed South Jeolla Province police on Thursday.

The disaster has sent shockwaves through the aviation industry, with questions mounting over the circumstances leading to the fatal accident. Authorities have yet to release detailed findings from the ongoing investigation.

Further updates are expected as the case unfolds.
