Wike Dismisses Fubara’s Budget Letter as ‘Useless,’

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has criticized Rivers State Governor Simi Fubara’s letter on budget representation to the State House of Assembly, calling it “useless.”

Wike, who previously served as the governor of Rivers State, made the remark during a media chat on Wednesday.

His statement follows an ultimatum issued by the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, who gave Fubara 48 hours to re-present the 2025 budget. The demand comes after a Supreme Court ruling, delivered by Justice Emmanuel Akomaye Agim, directed 27 lawmakers loyal to Wike to resume their legislative functions immediately.

Reacting to the development, Wike accused Fubara of insincerity in his approach to resolving the ongoing political crisis in the state. He urged the governor to foster a constructive relationship with the state legislature rather than engaging in what he described as political theatrics.

“His letter to the Rivers House of Assembly is useless; he’s just playing to the gallery,” Wike asserted.
