VIDEO: Mass burial held for victims of Jigawa tanker explosion

A mass burial was held for the victims of the tragic tanker explosion in Majiya Town, Taura Local Government Area, Jigawa State on Wednesday.

The explosion, which claimed 105 lives and left 55 others injured, occurred late Tuesday night near Khadija University, when a tanker driver lost control of the vehicle.

A video shared on X.com by Channels Television on Wednesday, showed the somber event as community members gathered to bury the victims, most of whom were burned beyond recognition due to the intensity of the explosion.

Injured victims were reported to have been hospitalised at Ringim General Hospital, where they are receiving treatment for various degrees of burns and injuries.

The tragic event has drawn widespread attention and sorrow, with condolences pouring in from across the country.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari expressed his condolences, describing the accident as one of the deadliest tragedies in recent memory.

President Bola Tinubu also directed that emergency aid, including medical supplies, food, and shelter, be provided to the injured persons receiving treatment and others affected by the fire.

This was as he directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, to lead a Federal Government delegation to Jigawa State.
