Verydarkman Clears the Air: “I’ll Never Defame Uncle Femi Falana”

Social media critic, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, has denied claims of defaming prominent human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN). In a video shared on Instagram, Verydarkman expressed deep respect for Falana, whom he fondly referred to as his “Uncle,” while firmly rejecting the allegations.

These allegations emerged after Nigerian rapper Falz threatened legal action against Verydarkman, accusing him and his father, Femi Falana, of being implicated in a controversial voice recording. The recording, linked to a bribery scandal involving crossdresser Bobrisky and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has stirred public attention.

Verydarkman’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, responded to the situation, clarifying that his client did not defame the senior lawyer but merely questioned the authenticity of Bobrisky’s claims in the leaked audio. Adeyanju emphasized that the intention was not to malign Falana but to urge a thorough investigation into the allegations.

In an official statement, Adeyanju wrote: “Our client denies defaming Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, a globally recognized human rights activist. He only shared the said communication to prompt relevant authorities, including your client, to launch an investigation into the serious allegations made by Mr. Okuneye (Bobrisky) in the voice recording.”

Adeyanju further stressed that the focus should be on probing Bobrisky’s accusations against certain EFCC officials, rather than pursuing a defamation case. He added, “Our client holds Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, in high regard and believes that the appropriate course of action is an interagency investigation into the allegations made in the recording.”

In a separate Facebook post, Adeyanju directed Falz to engage Bobrisky regarding the content of the call, stating, “Falz should address his concerns with Bobrisky, as he admitted to having a conversation with Bob. Case closed.”
