The timeline for completing the Owerri-Mbaise-Obowo-Umuahia road construction remains unchanged, according to Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma. Despite the severe rain, the governor declared this Thursday evening during an inspection of the ongoing development in that crucial sector of the state.
While inspecting the work, Governor Uzodimma reminded the contractors of the importance of completing the project within the timeframe agreed upon and without sacrificing the quality of the job.
He pleaded with locals and road users, some of whom came out to cheer him up, to tolerate the temporary inconvenience and hope that the contractor’s deadline to complete the project would be met.
“At the Emekuku section of the ongoing construction of the Owerri-Mbaise-Obowo-Umuahia road, the bridge is being reinforced for durability, with other aspects of the construction advancing,” the Imo State governor said on his social media handle.
“While inspecting the ongoing road construction yesterday, I observed the contractor implementing designs even as I emphasized the importance of completion within the timeframe.
“I understand the inconveniences that the work has caused for motorists and residents. I believe that with the current rate of work and the predicted improvement after the wet season ends, we will meet the completion deadline.”
Chief Tony Anakani, the Sole Administrator of Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area, praised the governor for not only embarking on such ambitious projects as the Owerri-Mbaise-Obowo-Umuahia road but also taking the time to inspect the road to ensure that the contractor is doing the right thing.
