With the assurance that individuals who distinguished themselves in their service during his first four-year term will still be accommodated in the soon-to-be-reconstituted exco, Governor Hope Uzodimma has dissolved the Imo State enlarged executive council members. All members of the expanded executive, including commissioners, senior special assistants, and special advisers, are impacted by the dissolution.
Speaking to a group of all of his political appointees yesterday, Governor Uzodimma expressed gratitude to them for their unwavering support during the first four years of his administration, despite several obstacles. More significantly, he thanked them for their tireless efforts to guarantee that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would triumph handily in the Imo State gubernatorial election on November 11, 2023.
The governor recalled that he was able to win in each of Imo State’s 27 local government areas because of their unwavering support and sense of family.
But Governor Uzodimma reminded them that even though a new term had begun and new people, ideas, and energy needed to be taken into account, he would make sure that everyone who would be involved in the new administration, whether directly or indirectly, had reason to be proud to be a part of his administration.
“I want to remind you that whether you will be directly involved in the new dispensation or tangentially involved, wherever you are, you will be proud to have been part of his government,” he said.
He begged them to understand that he was only human and could not live up to their expectations, but he also pledged to work even harder in the new regime to perform better.
All the same, he urged the members of the disbanded executive council to remember that, as members of the APC family and the current administration, their efforts will always be needed.
However, Governor Uzodimma took advantage of the occasion to criticize the actions of a few political appointees who damaged the reputation of the government and the person who gave them the chance to serve the public. He reminded them that those appointed by political parties are supposed to live moral lives free from corruption, embezzlement of public funds, and other naughty behaviour.
He issued a warning, saying that the new regime would not put up with anybody whose ideas did not align with his goal of improving Imo State for everybody.
