The United States has issued a stern warning to international students, including Nigerians, about the serious consequences of violating the conditions of their student visas.
In an advisory shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, the US Mission in Nigeria cautioned that students who drop out, skip classes, or abandon their academic programmes without proper notification to their schools risk having their student visas revoked.
“Always adhere to the terms of your visa and maintain your student status to avoid any issues,” the mission warned.
It further stressed that such violations could also lead to disqualification from obtaining future US visas.
The mission’s message serves as a timely reminder for all student visa holders to stay compliant with the regulations governing their stay, particularly as international academic sessions begin.
This development comes amid rising concerns over delays in student visa processing and growing scrutiny of visa misuse.
