Edikwu-Ankpali, Benue State – Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Benue South, Comrade Abba Moro, has strongly condemned the recent deadly attack on Edikwu-Ankpali community in Apa Local Government Area, describing the killings and kidnappings as “unprovoked and unacceptable.”
The condemnation came during an on-the-spot assessment visit to the affected community on Thursday. Senator Moro was accompanied by the Member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, Hon. Ojotu Ojema, along with other concerned stakeholders.
The visit followed a violent assault allegedly carried out by suspected herdsmen, which left at least eleven people dead, many others injured, and several families displaced.
Addressing the distraught residents, Senator Moro expressed deep sorrow over the continued wave of violence across parts of Benue South, lamenting the region’s vulnerability despite repeated calls for intervention.
“These killings and kidnappings are unprovoked and unacceptable. Our communities are under constant siege, and it is heartbreaking that despite all the cries for help, the attacks continue unabated,” Moro stated.
He assured the people of his unwavering commitment to their safety, pledging to continue advocating for justice and security at the Senate and in collaboration with other elected officials.
“I will not keep quiet. I will not retreat. I will continue to demand justice and security for our people. This is not just a political responsibility, it is a moral obligation,” he declared.
Senator Moro’s visit underscores growing concerns about the deteriorating security situation in rural communities across Benue State, as calls intensify for urgent and decisive government intervention.
