Abakaliki, Ebonyi State — The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has declared that he has no regrets supporting the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2023 general elections, asserting that the decision has yielded significant national benefits.
Speaking during a Salah celebration at his residence in Abakaliki, where he hosted and feted Muslim faithful in Ebonyi State with food items, bags of rice, and cash gifts, Umahi emphasized that the Tinubu-led administration has delivered democratic dividends across the country, irrespective of religious affiliation.
He noted that initial opposition to the Muslim-Muslim ticket has been overshadowed by the administration’s performance and the strengthened interfaith relations under President Tinubu.
“We are serving one God in different ways. The most important thing is love, and any religion that does not preach love is not of God,” Umahi said. “President Tinubu has shown fairness. His appointments have favoured Christians even more — with 62% going to Christians and 38% to Muslims.”
The Minister added that religious harmony has improved significantly under the current administration and praised the unity between Christians and Muslims.
“So we have no regrets. What matters is the dividends of democracy and national development. We are happy with the interfaith relationship and today’s celebration with our Muslim brothers because we are all serving one God,” he concluded.
