Gboyega Odubanjo, a British-Nigerian poet, went missing at the Shambala festival and UK police have asked for aid in finding him. The award-winning poet, who has been missing since the early hours of Saturday, was last spotted attending a rural musical festival in Northamptonshire’s Kelmarsh region, where he was scheduled to play later that day.
According to police, Odubanjo is 5ft 6in tall with short black dreadlocks and a full-face beard.
According to the statement, he generally wears spectacles and was last seen wearing a beige/cream bucket hat, a red and white striped gilet, black pants, and dark shoes.
The statement read in part, “Gboyega is from the Bromley area of London. If you see Gboyega, please call Northamptonshire Police on 999.
“Information and previous sightings can also be reported by calling 101, quoting reference number MPD1/2619/23.
“Gboyega, if you see this appeal, please contact us or your loved ones – we need to make sure you are safe and OK.”
The British-Nigerian is a Ph.D. student at the University of Hertfordshire. He is an editor for Bad Betty Press and the poetry publication Bath Magg.
“Gboyega is a loving and caring son who means the world to our family,” his relatives said in a statement.
“He has a warm and infectious personality, a contagious smile, and a kind heart.
“We believe Gboyega’s disappearance is completely out of character for him, and we are deeply concerned for his safety and well-being.”
