UCH Doctors Begin Indefinite Strike Over Power Outages

0

Members of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, have initiated an indefinite strike due to ongoing power supply issues in the hospital’s residential areas.

Dr. Uthman Adedeji, the ARD General Secretary, explained that while the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) restored power to the hospital after over 100 days of outages, only some residential quarters were reconnected. Parts of the quarters remain without electricity.

Following an Emergency General Meeting, the association decided to proceed with the planned strike, expressing dissatisfaction with the partial restoration of power. Adedeji emphasized that despite efforts by UCH management, full restoration is crucial to ensure uninterrupted service delivery. The strike will continue until all residential areas are fully restored.

ARD promised to regularly review the situation affecting the welfare of its members.
