Former U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday expressed confidence that the conflict between Iran and Israel has come to an end, attributing the de-escalation to mutual exhaustion on both sides.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said he had engaged with both parties involved in the fighting and believes they are now ready to withdraw and avoid further confrontation.
“I dealt with both and they’re both tired, exhausted,” Trump said. “They fought very, very hard and very viciously, very violently, and they were both satisfied to go home and get out.”
The former president did not elaborate on the nature of his involvement or any diplomatic efforts that may have taken place but suggested that the desire for peace stemmed from the intensity and toll of the recent hostilities.
