Trump Dismisses Notion of Third Term, Says He Plans to Pass Baton to ‘Great Republican’

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has clarified that he is not seriously considering a third term in office, a move that would violate the U.S. Constitution, despite previously entertaining the idea in public remarks.

In an interview set to air Sunday on NBC News’ Meet the Press, Trump told moderator Kristen Welker, “This is not something I’m looking to do.” He emphasized his focus on a potential return to the White House for one final term, saying, “I’m looking to have four great years and turn it over to somebody—ideally a great Republican—to carry it forward.”

Trump’s comments come amid growing speculation about his political future and ambitions as he continues to dominate the Republican presidential primary field.
