Former U.S. President Donald Trump has asserted that no individual in American history has faced more investigations than he has — not even infamous gangster Al Capone.
Speaking during a Sunday interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker, Trump declared that despite the numerous probes into his activities over the years, he has emerged unscathed.
“I’ve been investigated more than any person in the history of the United States of America,” Trump said. “I’ve been investigated more than Al Capone, more than anybody — and I won.”
Capone, one of the most notorious figures in organized crime, gained national infamy during the Prohibition Era as the head of the Chicago Outfit from 1925 to 1931. His criminal empire, which thrived on illegal alcohol sales, gambling, and prostitution, was eventually brought down when he was convicted of tax evasion and imprisoned at age 33.
Born in New York City in 1899 to Italian immigrant parents, Capone began his criminal career with the Five Points Gang before moving to Chicago, where he became a key figure under mob boss Johnny Torrio.
Capone died in 1947 from cardiac arrest following a stroke, leaving behind a legacy as one of America’s most infamous crime bosses.
Trump’s comparison to Capone underscores his continued criticism of what he describes as politically motivated investigations, even as he seeks a return to the White House.
