Washington, D.C. – Former U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday cautioned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky over his latest remarks on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, emphasizing the need for a swift resolution.
Speaking at the White House during the announcement of a $100 billion investment in the U.S. by a Taiwan-based chip manufacturer, Trump referenced Zelensky’s statement reported by the Associated Press.
“President Zelensky supposedly made a statement today in AP—he thinks the war is going to go on for a long time. He better not be right about that, that’s all I’m saying,” Trump remarked.
He further criticized Zelensky’s stance on U.S. assistance, asserting that America has contributed more to Ukraine’s defense efforts than Europe.
“I want to see it (the war) end fast. I don’t want to see this go on for years and years,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, Zelensky acknowledged Europe’s recent efforts to push for a peace framework but noted that negotiations remained in their early stages. He cautioned that “an agreement to end the war is still very, very far away.”
