A 50-year-old farmer, Alfa Mustapha, was found dead with bullet wounds on his farm in Ageri Village, Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, on Saturday.

The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement released on Sunday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, revealing that the victim had gone to the farm earlier in the day but failed to return home.

Concerned by his absence, the Chief Imam of Ageri Mosque, Moshood Mustapha, visited the farm around 6:02 pm, where he discovered Alfa Mustapha’s lifeless body lying face up with his cutlass beside him.

The police were alerted, and officers from the Olodo outstation, led by the officer in charge, visited the scene. Initial assessments at the scene were hindered by heavy rainfall and poor visibility, preventing the immediate detection of injuries.

The body was taken to the General Hospital in Odeda, where a medical examination revealed that Mustapha had been shot at close range with pellets. His body has since been deposited at the hospital morgue for further forensic analysis.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered a full-scale investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.

“The Command urges anyone with useful information that could aid the investigation to come forward. Such information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality,” Odutola assured, emphasizing the police’s commitment to ensuring justice is served.
