Tinubu’s Second Term Is Non-Negotiable — Okpebholo Tells South-South Monarchs

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has declared that President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 is “non-negotiable,” urging traditional rulers in the South-South region to unite in support of the President.

Speaking at the Edo State Government House in Benin during a courtesy visit by the South-South Monarchs’ Forum, Okpebholo stressed the vital role of traditional institutions in national development and security.

“The development of our nation cannot be achieved without the active support of our royal fathers,” the governor said, calling on the monarchs to back President Tinubu’s administration, especially in addressing insecurity across the country.

Okpebholo praised Tinubu’s economic policies, describing them as bold and necessary steps to revitalize the Nigerian economy. He highlighted the President’s efforts in increasing state allocations and blocking financial leakages, which, he said, have enabled states to invest more in developmental projects.

“The South-South zone should speak with one voice. We have our son as the President, and we all must rally behind him to return in 2027 to complete his tenure,” he stated.

“President Tinubu has done so much for this country. The people of the South-South must support him to continue what he has started. A second term for the President is non-negotiable,” Okpebholo added
