Tinubu’s Reforms Guarantee Him a Smooth Re-Election in 2027 — APC Chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. George Agbakahi, has expressed strong confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure a second term in 2027 with little resistance, citing significant socio-economic reforms and achievements under his administration.

Agbakahi, who is also the South East leader of the Tinubu Support Organization and a member of the 2023 APC Presidential Campaign Council Media and Publicity Directorate, made this assertion during an interview on Arise News Television in Abuja on Monday.

According to him, key economic indicators—such as declining inflation, increased public revenue, and a rise in foreign reserves—are clear signs of the administration’s success.

“The two years of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in office have been marked by a lot of successes,” Agbakahi said. “Inflation has declined to 23.7%, public revenue increased by 4.5% of GDP, and we’ve seen a remarkable reduction in national debt.”

He attributed these improvements to Tinubu’s bold economic reforms, including fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate unification. “When Tinubu came in, Nigeria was using 97% of its revenue to service debt. Now, that figure is down to 68%, and our national debt has dropped from $108 billion to $94 billion,” he noted.

Agbakahi also highlighted the administration’s efforts in social investment, citing the introduction of student loans under NELFUND, which has so far disbursed N54.2 billion to universities and students alike. “Education is now more accessible to the average Nigerian,” he added.

He praised the growth in Nigeria’s GDP from 3.15% to 3.85% and the Federal Inland Revenue Service’s (FIRS) leap in revenue generation from N10.1 trillion to N21 trillion. “All these show the administration is on the right path,” Agbakahi said.

On security and food supply, he acknowledged the challenges but maintained that conditions were gradually improving. “There is a level of food security returning. Even rice prices have begun to drop. States are now financially stable with a 300% increase in FAAC allocation—salaries are being paid, and we’ve not had any ASUU strike under this administration.”

On the wave of defections to the APC, Agbakahi said it was a sign of strength, not crisis. He dismissed concerns about internal conflicts, especially in states like Delta, stressing that the party leadership had the experience to manage any potential tensions.

“Defections are normal in politics, both locally and globally. Many influential figures, like Sen. Adamu Aliero and former Delta State leaders, have joined APC. This is a testament to Tinubu’s leadership and the Renewed Hope agenda,” he said.

Addressing insinuations that some defectors were fleeing EFCC prosecution, Agbakahi insisted their move was driven by shared political interest and trust in Tinubu’s vision. “These defections reflect faith in the president’s policies and a strong desire to be part of the winning team ahead of 2027,” he concluded.
