Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State says members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) remain firmly united in support of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, despite sustained criticism from the opposition.
Uzodimma, who also chairs the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), made the remarks on Wednesday in Abuja while briefing journalists after a closed-door strategy session involving APC governors, ministers, and National Working Committee members.
He emphasized that President Tinubu’s reform-driven leadership is beginning to yield results, noting that even international financial institutions like the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) have commended the administration’s bold economic decisions.
“At the beginning of this administration, opposition voices were very loud in criticising the government’s reform policies. But today, the President is being vindicated,” Uzodimma stated.
According to him, the APC remains grounded in partisan democracy, with all present at the meeting being proud members of the ruling party.
“This government was produced by all progressive governors. Every person here today is an APC member, regardless of their official position,” he said.
He explained that the meeting also focused on strategies to support party members and everyday Nigerians who continue to stand firm with the APC despite distractions and challenges.
“We have a duty to support this brave man who is committed to Nigeria’s progress,” he added, referring to President Tinubu.
On the upcoming second anniversary of the Tinubu administration, Uzodimma said the APC is preparing to highlight achievements and reflect on areas that need improvement. He disclosed that the party’s National Working Committee would soon unveil official programmes to commemorate the milestone.
Also speaking, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described the gathering as a “family meeting” of the APC’s core leadership.
“We came together to review the administration’s performance as it approaches the midterm mark. We are pleased with what has been achieved so far,” he said.
Idris noted that the APC would also step up efforts to inform Nigerians about the government’s achievements while collecting feedback to guide future actions.
“In spite of challenges, we’re on the right path, and with God’s help, Nigeria will succeed,” he concluded.
