Tinubu’s Boys Will Come for Me – Ndume

0

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political appointments, describing them as lopsided and in violation of Nigeria’s federal character principle.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV’s Prime Time on Monday, Ndume expressed concern that the pattern of appointments under the current administration does not reflect the constitutional requirement for inclusivity and regional balance.

“When you look at it vis-a-vis the appointments made so far—and they are political appointments—the Constitution is very clear,” Ndume said. “It is because of avoiding such infractions that the Constitution clearly states that appointments, especially political ones, should reflect the federal character, and that is not the case here.”

The senator emphasized that his criticism is not personal but a constitutional duty aimed at guiding the President and safeguarding national unity.

“All I am saying is to call the attention of Mr President to such infractions so they can be corrected. Otherwise, these things can boomerang at a certain period of time,” he warned.

Ndume also predicted backlash for his remarks, saying supporters of the President—whom he referred to as “Tinubu boys” and “attack dogs”—would likely target him instead of addressing the substance of his concerns.

“After this interview, those attack dogs or maga-dogs will start attacking Ndume, not the message. From tomorrow, those so-called Tinubu boys or people will start attacking Ndume,” he added.

Despite the anticipated backlash, Ndume maintained that his position is rooted in constitutional responsibility and the need to represent his constituents’ interests faithfully.

“We are all in this government. What will we tell our people?” he queried, reiterating that it is the collective duty of lawmakers to provide oversight and ensure constitutional compliance by the executive arm.
