The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described himself as the luckiest politician in Nigeria, citing the unwavering support of friends and allies from across the country.

Wike made the remark on Friday during the official commissioning of the newly constructed Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way), which stretches from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III (RR3), in Abuja.

The event was part of activities marking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second year in office. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, represented President Tinubu at the commissioning.

Speaking at the ceremony, Wike praised the consistent show of solidarity he receives from political associates nationwide.

“Mr President, let me just say this: I don’t think there is any politician as lucky as I am,” Wike said. “Each time we are doing something in Abuja, all my friends—from Abia to Enugu, Sokoto to Cross River—always show up. They come from everywhere.”

He expressed deep appreciation to the people of Rivers State and other Nigerians who have continued to support him.

“Let me, with your kind permission, thank the people of Rivers State and all Nigerians. Those of you who are here, please take a bow before Mr President. Mr President, these guys are worthy of commendation,” Wike added.

The commissioning of the road project is one of several ongoing infrastructural developments under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
