President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to making Nigeria work for all citizens, emphasizing unity and progress over blame games.
Speaking at the 48th convocation ceremony of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, Tinubu, represented by the Special Adviser to the President on Economy, Tope Fasua, highlighted the administration’s resolve to address the country’s challenges through reform policies aimed at long-term prosperity.
Acknowledging the economic difficulties faced by Nigerians, Tinubu stated:
“I am not unaware of the harsh economic situation in our country, neither do I take pleasure in inflicting pains and anguish on my compatriots. We have embraced the assets and liabilities of past administrations without apportioning blame. These reforms are essential, and we must endure the current hardships to secure a brighter future for all.”
He expressed optimism, assuring Nigerians of “light at the end of the tunnel” as the nation undergoes critical adjustments to correct past mistakes and build a sustainable economy.
The event also featured remarks from the Chancellor of OAU, Etsu Nupe Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, who underscored the pivotal role of education in driving national development. He emphasized the importance of equipping graduates with tools to compete in the global economy.
Similarly, the Pro-Chancellor, Professor Siyan Oyeweso, charged the 977 postgraduate students to leverage their knowledge to build a nation filled with opportunities for future generations.
