Leaders of the Niger Delta, under the aegis of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), are set to engage in a high-level interactive session with President Bola Tinubu this morning at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
PANDEF, founded by the late elder statesman Senator Edwin Clark, serves as the primary voice of traditional rulers, political leaders, and stakeholders across the coastal states of the Niger Delta.
Following their meeting with President Tinubu, the delegation will later convene with Senate President Godswill Akpabio and South-South lawmakers at the National Assembly.
The forum’s leadership includes former governors of old Rivers and Akwa Ibom states, HRM Alfred Diete-Spiff and Obong Victor Attah, who serve as co-chairmen of the Board of Trustees. Ambassador Godknows Igali, a former federal permanent secretary and seasoned diplomat, is the current National Chairman of PANDEF.
A senior member of the group, speaking to Vanguard, revealed that PANDEF leaders held an expanded National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Monday to deliberate on key regional concerns.
“We shall have an interactive session with Mr. President at the Villa this morning. Later in the afternoon, we will meet with the Senate President and all National Assembly members from the South-South,” the source disclosed.
The meetings are expected to focus on critical developmental issues affecting the Niger Delta and the federal government’s role in addressing regional concerns.
