Controversial northern politician and activist, Hajiya Naja’atu Mohammed, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of promoting ethnic favoritism in his administration, claiming his government is heavily skewed in favour of the South-West.
Speaking during the maiden episode of the Political Advantage Platform (PAP) podcast hosted by Hadiza Malumfashi, Naja’atu alleged that the President is using national resources to primarily develop his home region, the South-West, while sidelining other parts of the country.
“I have nothing personal against Tinubu, but it is clear that everything in his government is about Yorubas, for Yorubas, and by Yorubas,” she said. “Tinubu is using national resources to develop his region. Are we trying to vulcanize the country into ethnic fiefdoms?”
The former member of Tinubu’s presidential campaign council accused the President of abandoning the principles of national unity and ignoring the concerns of ordinary Nigerians, which she believes has contributed to the current economic hardship.
“When a government ignores the voices of its people and listens only to external bodies, the result is a broken economy and suffering citizens,” she lamented.
Naja’atu further expressed disappointment in Tinubu’s leadership, saying many Nigerians had high hopes due to his perceived track record as governor of Lagos State. However, she described his performance so far as underwhelming and divisive.
She warned that the country’s development will continue to suffer if the government fails to decisively tackle insecurity and embrace inclusive governance.
