President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming Nigeria’s economic landscape by empowering citizens to become agents of prosperity. This was stated during the inauguration of the “Earn from the Soil” campaign at the National Convergence for the Renewed Hope Agenda, held at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Abuja.

Represented by the Minister of Regional Development, Mr. Abubakar Momoh, President Tinubu highlighted the initiative as a pivotal step in leveraging Nigeria’s non-oil resources for economic transformation. He described the project as a strategic move toward food security, aiming to transform subsistence farming into export-oriented agricultural enterprises.

“We are not seeking traditional aid from our partners but strategic support to transform our economic ecosystem,” Tinubu stated, emphasizing the government’s focus on partnerships that foster innovation and sustainable development.

The President called on local and international investors to explore opportunities in the South-South region, stressing its readiness for business and immense potential. He also urged Nigerian youth and women to seize the initiative as a pathway to self-reliance and economic empowerment.

“This is a charge to the young people from the South-South: You are the backbone of the transformation that is about to begin. Your energy, creativity, and determination will drive Nigeria’s economic revolution,” Tinubu said.

The campaign aligns with the administration’s vision of positioning Nigeria as a leading agricultural export nation by 2025. Tinubu underscored that “Earn from the Soil” could revolutionize the agricultural sector and ensure national food security.

“To this end, my administration will provide the necessary support to implement this laudable project and achieve its objectives,” the President pledged.

The National Convergence for the Renewed Hope Agenda places the South-South region at the forefront of Nigeria’s economic renaissance. Tinubu noted the region’s vast natural resources and exceptional human capacity, emphasizing its potential to serve as a hub of transformative growth.

“This region is rich not only in oil and gas but also in other natural resources and extraordinary human talent. When properly harnessed, the South-South can embody the transformative potential of Nigeria,” he added.

Hon. Gift Johnbull, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South-South), described the National Convergence as a platform for dialogue, innovation, and action. She called on stakeholders, investors, and business leaders to collaborate in unlocking the region’s untapped potential.

“This convergence is a movement—a call to action for every individual to shape the future not just of the South-South but of Nigeria as a whole,” Johnbull remarked. She urged investors to recognize the region as a hub of opportunity with benefits extending beyond Nigeria to Africa and the global community.

The “Earn from the Soil” campaign and the broader Renewed Hope Agenda underscore the administration’s focus on economic diversification and sustainable development, marking a significant stride toward realizing Nigeria’s growth potential.
