Tinubu Jets Out on Two-Nation Tour to Japan, Brazil, with Stopover in Dubai

ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Abuja on a diplomatic tour that will take him to Japan and Brazil, with a brief stopover in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu will first attend the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama, Japan, from August 20 to 22.

The conference, themed “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa,” will focus on driving Africa’s economic transformation, improving business environments, and promoting sustainable development through private investment and innovation.

From Japan, Tinubu will proceed to Brasilia, Brazil, for a two-day state visit from August 24 to 25 at the invitation of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The visit will feature high-level bilateral talks, a business forum with Brazilian investors, and the signing of agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening Nigeria-Brazil ties.

The president is accompanied by key ministers and senior government officials, who will engage in discussions to deepen cooperation and explore new opportunities for strategic partnerships in trade, investment, and development.
