President Bola Tinubu has signaled that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is open to receiving the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, should he decide to formally join the ruling party.
Speaking on Wednesday during the commissioning of the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way), which connects Ring Road One (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Road), as well as other newly completed roads in the Katampe District of Abuja, Tinubu commended Wike’s efforts and hinted at a possible political shift.
“With Wike, APC will continue to be in a joyous mood,” Tinubu said, adding that the party’s opponents “will continue to writhe in pain.”
Although Wike currently remains a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), his recent alignment with APC-led initiatives has continued to fuel speculations about his political future.
The PDP has been grappling with internal leadership crises, which worsened in the lead-up to the 2023 presidential election — a development that has left many of its key figures divided.
Observers believe Wike’s potential move to the APC could significantly reshape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
