Tinubu Has Ended South-East Marginalisation — Umahi Declares

0

Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has broken the long-standing jinx of political and infrastructural marginalisation in the South-East region.

Umahi made the assertion during a civic reception held in his honour over the weekend by the Okposi Okwu community in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. The event was organised to recognise his contributions to peacebuilding, economic development, and infrastructural advancement in the area.

Speaking through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Uchenna Orji, Umahi praised President Tinubu for ensuring fair distribution of democratic dividends across all six geo-political zones of the country.

“The Minister thanked the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for breaking the jinx of marginalisation in the South-East through equitable distribution of the dividends of democracy,” the statement read.

The former governor of Ebonyi State noted that his appointment as Minister of Works — a portfolio he described as the first of its kind for a South-Easterner in Nigeria’s post-independence history — marks a significant shift in national inclusion.

Umahi pointed to ongoing large-scale road infrastructure projects across the South-East as evidence of the President’s commitment to addressing historical imbalances in development.

He further called on the South-East to unite in support of President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 as a show of appreciation for what he termed the President’s goodwill and inclusive governance.

The high-profile event drew political heavyweights from across the country, including Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.

Also in attendance were former Senate President and ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Pius Anyim, former Governors Martin Elechi and Olusegun Osoba, and Chief Emma Enukwu, APC National Vice Chairman (South-East).
