Tinubu Appoints Adeyemi Olumode as New Controller-General of Federal Fire Service

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Adeyemi Olumode as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), following the retirement of the incumbent, Abdulganiyu Jaji.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), retired Major General Abdulmalik Jubril, on behalf of the Federal Government.

Jaji, the outgoing Controller-General, is set to retire on August 13, 2025, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.

In a statement, Jubril noted that Olumode’s appointment is in line with the Board’s commitment to merit-based leadership and continuity in service. He described Olumode as a seasoned officer who has fulfilled all in-service requirements, including command and professional development courses both locally and internationally.

“Olumode brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having transferred from the FCT Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service, and rising through the ranks to Deputy Controller-General in charge of the Human Resources Directorate,” the statement read.

He is also an active member and fellow of several professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.

The Federal Government expressed confidence in Olumode’s capacity to lead the Service towards greater operational efficiency and professionalism.
