The National Assembly (NASS) is under heightened security as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu prepares to present the 2025 budget to a joint session of lawmakers today.

By 8:00 a.m., senators and House of Representatives members were seen arriving at the Green Chamber, where the session will take place.

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) had earlier approved the proposed N47.96 trillion expenditure for the 2025 fiscal year during its meeting on Monday.

In preparation for the event, the NASS management has implemented strict measures, including shutting down all businesses and ancillary services such as banks and food vendors within the complex. Visitors and nonessential staff have been directed to stay home until the conclusion of the budget presentation.

Only accredited personnel, including essential duty staff and a limited number of reporters, are permitted on-site.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen will preside over the session.
