Three people were killed, including a commercial biker known as Okada Rider, after a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) crushed two motorcycles carrying them along the Alakija end of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in the state.
Aside from the deceased, it was discovered that one individual suffered varied degrees of injuries and was brought to a hospital where he was expected to receive the best medical care in the state.
According to eyewitnesses, the body of the Okada rider was hauled away by his fellow riders, who revealed that he was of Northern origin and required to be laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rituals.
Meanwhile, the two others, both guys, were taken away by police officers from the FESTAC divisional police station for proper identification.
The tragedy apparently occurred when a BRT en route to Okokomaiko and two commercial motorbikes collided on the special lane provided by the Lagos State government for its commercial bus.
According to reports, the two commercial motorcyclists were allegedly driving against traffic when the accident occurred at around 5:40 p.m.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, verified the event on Thursday, saying it happened in Amuwo-Odoin Local Government and involved a state-owned BRT Mercedes bus with registration number BRI 043.
