Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed the emerging opposition coalition as disorganized and lacking direction.
In a pointed post on social media platform X, Olayinka appeared to mock the coalition’s speculated ticket of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as presidential candidate and Peter Obi as running mate, calling it a “confused coalition.”
“Confused Coalition: Atiku as presidential candidate. Any Obi (even if na Obioma or Obiageli) as running mate. Issorite,” he wrote.
The opposition coalition, reportedly led by Atiku, Obi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, held a closed-door meeting on Tuesday night alongside other stakeholders to discuss strategic moves ahead of the 2027 general election.
Following the meeting, El-Rufai confirmed the coalition’s intent to unseat President Bola Tinubu, stating that the group aims to return him to Lagos in 2027.
Meanwhile, speculation continues over which political platform the coalition will adopt, with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) currently in the spotlight. However, reports indicate internal disagreements over its selection, further fueling concerns of disunity within the coalition.
