Tension in Lagos Assembly as Obasa’s Supporters Demand Reinstatement

0

Supporters of Mudashiru Obasa, the ousted Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, gathered outside the assembly complex on Thursday, demanding his reinstatement.

Obasa, who was removed from office on January 13 while he was abroad, arrived at the complex in the afternoon, accompanied by security aides. A viral video showed his supporters holding placards and chanting slogans in his favor.

Following his return on January 25, Obasa has continued to challenge the legitimacy of his removal, insisting he remains the rightful Speaker. His successor, Mojisola Meranda, is reportedly facing mounting pressure to step down.

Adding to the uncertainty, security aides assigned to Meranda were reportedly withdrawn earlier today, fueling speculation over the assembly’s leadership crisis.
