Tanker Explosion on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway: No Lives Lost, FRSC Urges Caution

0

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that no lives were lost in the tanker explosion that occurred on Wednesday along the Ibafo axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

According to Mrs. Florence Okpe, the FRSC spokesperson in Ogun State, the accident resulted from a burst tyre, which caused the driver to lose control, leading the tanker to overturn and spill its contents on the road.

“The fire service was immediately contacted, but the tanker had exploded before their arrival. Five vehicles were consumed by the fire,” Okpe stated.

Three men sustained injuries in the incident and were promptly taken to Real Divine Hospital, Ibafo, and General Hospital, Sagamu for treatment.

The FRSC Sector Commander, Akinwumi Fasakin, urged motorists to regularly check their tyres for wear or expiration to prevent accidents, while also advising drivers to remain safety-conscious on the road.
