Sowore Slams FG Over “Criminal Rendition” of Nnamdi Kanu After Kenyan Court Ruling

0

Popular Nigerian activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has condemned the Nigerian government over the controversial transfer of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), from Kenya to Nigeria in 2021.

Sowore’s criticism follows a recent ruling by the High Court of Kenya, which declared the rendition of Kanu as illegal and a violation of his fundamental human rights. The court also ordered the Kenyan government to pay Kanu a sum of 10 million Kenyan shillings (approximately ₦119.6 million) in damages.

Describing the act as an “unjust and criminal act of brigandage,” Sowore blamed both the former administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and the current administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he called a continued injustice.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page, the activist stated:
“An unjust and criminal act of brigandage by the Muhammadu Buhari regime, but continued by the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu regime.”

The development has reignited public debate over the legality and human rights implications of Kanu’s arrest and extradition, with critics calling for accountability and adherence to international law.
