South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has been impeached by the nation’s parliament following his controversial attempt to impose martial law. The unprecedented move has rocked the country, deeply dividing his party and sparking widespread public outrage.

In a historic vote held on Saturday, 204 lawmakers backed the impeachment, while 85 opposed it, according to Al Jazeera. The decision effectively suspends Yoon from office pending further investigations.
